📋 Conditions of Rental
📅 Rental PeriodLetter boxes shall be allotted for periods not exceeding 12 months. No period of allotment shall extend beyond 31st December in any year. | 💳 PaymentAnnual rental is payable in advance. If rental is not paid by 31st January, the box may be allotted to another person. |
🔑 Keys & DepositOn receipt of R225 deposit, a set of two keys will be delivered. Deposit is refunded on surrender of the box in good condition with keys. Keys remain property of the Post Office. | ⚠️ Lost KeysDeposit is forfeited if keys are lost or lock is broken. A new deposit of R225 is required for new lock and keys. |
Additional Terms
🔧 No lock other than that supplied by the Post Office shall be fitted. Repairs can only be done by the Post Office. |
📬 Delivery into post office boxes is equivalent to personal delivery to the addressee. |
✉️ Only letters addressed to the allottee, to their care, or to the box number will be placed in the box. |
🔄 Correspondence can be re-addressed from one box to another only in exceptional circumstances upon application to the Postmaster. |
📝 Missorted mail must be immediately reported by writing "Not for box No. ___" or handed to an official on duty. |
🪪 Identification may be required by producing the rental receipt or other means satisfactory to the postal officer. |
⛔ The allottee is liable for damage to the box, lock, or keys due to willful default or neglect. |
🚫 Breach of any conditions may result in forfeiture of the box. Re-allotment may not be granted for forfeiture other than non-payment. |
